This pillar drill features a variable speed adjustment lever, allowing precise control of the drilling speed, from 440 to 2580 rpm, without moving the drive belt. Powered by a quiet running, maintenance-free induction motor, the current speed is clearly displayed on the digital readout, ensuring increased accuracy and control when drilling metals, woods and plastics. The main headstock is CNC machined from a strong grey iron casting and features a highly accurate quill and spindle assembly, running on extra wide ball race bearings, to ensure precise, consistent drilling.
The spindle has 50mm of travel with a 250mm swing and is fitted with a precision three jaw 'Jacobs' style chuck which accepts shank diameters from 1.5mm - 13mm. The spring-loaded, height adjustable safety guard ensures user safety whilst maintaining clear visibility of the work. The cross laser guide allows quick, pin-point alignment between the workpiece and the centre of the drill bit.
The cast iron upper table measures 194mm x 165mm and features machined slots to accept drill press vices and clamps. The table height is controlled by a smooth rack and pinion mechanism and the angle of the table can be set anywhere between 0 to 45° left and right. When extra height is required, the table can be swung out of the way, allowing the base to be used as a worktable, providing a maximum distance from chuck to base of 370mm. ©
